I’m so grateful to be from London—a bold city with all the colourful and creative people. This city picked me up and inspired me, gave me opportunities I could have never dreamt of, and led me down paths to friends who are now family. All of us are so excited for the decade ahead.”
Presenting the Global VOICES Award 2019 to Enninful, Duro Olowusaid: “Describing Edward, and the passion and sheer brilliance of his work, is a rather impossible task. He’s a maverick, charting a bold course, and he’s changed the face of fashion to reflect the world today.”
Also presenting, Jourdan Dunn remarked: “Edward represents many things. He’s brought realness from the London streets to high fashion. You give opportunities that change lives and remind us that our dreams are achievable.”
Imran Amed, Founder and CEO of The Business of Fashion, said:“People think in stories. At a time when the world is in need of honest, impactful and inspirational storytellers, it’s particularly fitting that the Global VOICES Award 2019 goes to the exceptionally talented Edward Enninful. He has helped shape a new vision for fashion media, putting something he calls ‘a diversity of perspective’ at the core of his mission. But the VOICES award is not simply about fashion. We have heard from many of our speakers—most of them coming from outside our industry—how our influential fashion is in shaping our culture. Edward’s impact goes far beyond fashion, as he has also opened our industry up to millions of people around the world who can now see themselves in the beautiful and inspiring imagery he creates.”
